Parks and Trails

Sixteen percent of the total Union Bay property (128 acres) will be dedicated to the Comox Valley Regional District for parks and trails.

The Washer Creek watershed will be a major feature of this system of trails.  From the Coastal Highway (19-A) the trail runs adjacent to the creek for one mile and winds through a variety of majestic trees in a natural,  pristine environment.  New trails will emanate from the existing trail which will expand the trail system throughout the balance of the Union Bay land into the Crown lands to the west.

An observant hiker will be able to spot both wild Chum and Coho salmon fry and fingerlings, the progeny of adult salmon which have spawned in the fall and winter.  This next generation of salmon will rear in the fresh water for up to one year before beginning their ocean migration into the marine environment.

A walk up Washer Creek and beyond is an experience currently enjoyed by hundreds of local residents and will become a favorite activity for  the future residents of  the Union Bay Development.
